Cislyn Smith is a speculative fiction writer and editor who likes playing pretend, playing games, and playing with words. She calls Madison, WI her home and enjoys the company of three cats, some humans, a few frogs, and an assortment of cool bacteria. Cislyn has been known to crochet tentacles, write stories and poems at odd hours, and gallivant. She is occasionally dismayed by the lack of secret passages in her house.
She has been published in Electric Velocipede, Flash Fiction Online, Strange Horizons, Star*Line, and Cthulhu Haiku 2. She is currently a submissions editor for Uncanny Magazine and helps out at GigaNotoSaurus as well.
In addition to her wordy work, Cislyn is a co-founder and secretary of The Dream Foundry, a non-profit dedicated to helping beginners across the speculative arts. The Dream Foundry runs two contests annually, one for beginning writers and the other for beginning illustrators. They also put on an online convention for fans and professionals across the genre, called Flights of Foundry. If you’d like to talk shop about running an online convention (or discuss rates to hire Cislyn and her partner in convention running to help with your event), look for her on the Dream Foundry’s discord server or send an email to her name at dreamfoundry dot org.
